A THOUSAND-piece quilt made by members of a village craft group will have pride of place at a special craft exhibition being held on Sunday, January 14.

The quilt will be displayed and raffled in the Tithe Barn in the village of Fitzhead, near Wiveliscombe, while villagers’ talents will also be on display in everything from pottery and beading to glass making and knitting.

Once finished, quilters Maggie Watkinson and Pat Victor sewed the blocks together by machine and hand, and the names of all the makers are being embroidered on it for the record.

Organisers hope to sell over 1,000 raffle tickets, at £1 each, for the quilt, and the craft exhibition will also provide cakes and teas.

The event starts at 2pm, and raffle tickets will be on sale there, as well as in Wiveliscombe Square tomorrow morning (Saturday) or from craft group members.
