THE Alcombe Tandoori Restaurant is the Somerset winner for the best restaurants category of the Curry Life Awards, which showcase the best in the industry from around the country.
Restaurant owner Razaul Karim and chef Jubair Ahmed received the award in front of an audience of more than 700 people, at a gala event at the Royal Lancaster Hotel hosted by journalist and broadcaster Jon Snow.
“I knew we were nominated but winners were announced for each region on the day, and I was really surprised,” said Razaul, who has owned the restaurant for the last nine years.
“I was very happy to be presented with the award by MP Rushanra Ali, it was a great pleasure.”
The restaurant, which offers Indian-Bangladeshi food, had been going for well over 15 years and chef Jubair had been there since day one
