BRITAIN in Bloom regional judge David Littlewood, of Bath, has visited Minehead - and given out "positive vibes".

Mr Littlewood made a two-hour tour of the town, looking at floral displays and the winning entries of various competitions.

He was accompanied by West Somerset District Council grounds maintenance officer Chris Adams and Minehead in Bloom Committee member Lynda Hatch.

They covered all areas of the town from Alcombe to Woodcombe and took in several new housing areas, the industrial estate and the new Millennium Rose Garden off Seaward Way.

Other members of Minehead in Bloom Committee joined Mr Littlewood for lunch and, before leaving, he said he had been impressed by what he saw.

He commented on the varied floral displays, the obvious strength and depth of community involvement and the fact that the town was so clean at the height of the tourism season.

Mrs Hatch said: "We felt that the vibes were very positive. The judge certainly seemed to enjoy his tour and, once again, the town supported us to the hilt - everywhere looked really lovely.

"Now we just have to wait for the results - we won't know for another month or so but, if enthusiasm and effort count for anything, we should do well."
