SIR — As a former resident of Minehead and somebody who still cares about the people and the area, I find it totally strange that the people who trust the district councillors to look after the needs of the people are continually being let down by them. These people who take power positions spend local money on hare-brained schemes that hardly ever come off and are left with egg on their faces. The business of the new council offices is a total fiasco and totally embarrasing to the people of Minehead. The local kids have got nothing to do and when they finally get something, ie the skate park, what happens? It gets taken from them with the promise that it will be relocated. It will never happen, or by the time the council has done something about it the kids will have grown up, left home and probably the area. So the next time you power people think about doing the townsfolk a favour with one of your clever schemes, think first because the power may shift sooner than you think.
