SOME of the younger pupils in St Dubricius Church of England First School, Porlock, were able to enjoy an unforgettable creative writing experience, thanks to the help of local estate agent Richard Parsons and his team in the village’s Wilkie May and Tuckwood office.
As part of the children’s literacy lessons, pupils in years one and two Explorers class have regularly been receiving exciting missions through ‘a mysterious portal from an unknown professor’.
Their latest challenge was to ‘sell’ their school using persuasive writing and creativity.
To bring the mission to life, class teacher Teresa Milton teamed up with Mr Parsons, who enthusiastically embraced the project.
Mr Parsons and his team visited the school to take professional photographs and create real life floorplans, providing the children with authentic materials to inspire their writing.
The classroom quickly transformed into a hub of budding estate agents, with pupils crafting imaginative and persuasive descriptions of their school.
The project reached its climax when the children visited the Wilkie May and Tuckwood offices and discovered their work had been professionally displayed throughout the store.
The impact was immediate and heartfelt with pupils amazed and delighted to see their writing showcased in a real estate agent’s office.
Mrs Milton said: “It made the experience feel real.
“The children were so proud and could not believe their work was being shared with the public in such a professional way.”
To round off the visit, Mr Parsons gifted each child a pad and pen, encouraging them to continue their creative writing journey at home.
Mrs Milton, Mrs Lisa Jones, and all of the pupils in Explorers class expressed their thanks to Mr Parsons and his team for creating such a meaningful and inspiring experience, one the children will remember for years to come.
