WEST Somerset MP Ian Liddell-Grainger was among the 200 MPS who supported Prime Minister Theresa May in Wednesday evening’s vote of confidence in her leadership, he told the Free Press yesterday(Thursday).
He said that now was not the time to change the country’s leadership and that the tight timetable demanded that everyone worked together to seek a workable deal.
“Time is running out and the present course of action is the only one available,” he said.
Earlier, Mr Liddell-Grainger had urged that Parliament should be prepared to sit through Christmas if necessary to resolve the deadlock.
He said the Prime Minister’s decision to call off Tuesday’s crucial vote on the deal showed she has listened to the continuing concerns of scores of MPs.
But he said voters now wanted an end to months of uncertainty and to know exactly where the country stood as the Brexit deadline loomed.
