THE fate of West Somerset Council and its three-year partnership with Taunton Deane Borough Council will be decided by the end of this month.

Members of both councils were this week given a 95-page report which spells out three ways the partnership could go - the options are closer working ties, a full merger or going their separate ways.

‘The Business Case’ as it is called will go before each council’s scrutiny committees on next week with full council meetings on July 26 deciding which path to take.

And that choice was described as “the most important decision we’ll ever have to make about the councils’ future”.
