TWO people have been interviewed by police as investigations continue into allegations of mis-treatment of pheasants on one of Exmoor’s most prestigious shooting estates.

The League Against Cruel Sports claimed earlier this year it had covertly filmed birds being trapped and killed on the Chargot Estate, near Luxborough, during the closed season.

The animal welfare charity passed a file to Avon and Somerset Police in June and was told it would be reviewed and an investigation carried out to establish if any offences had been committed.

Two people have since met voluntarily with officers to be interviewed about the allegations.

A police spokesman told the Free Press this week: “The investigation is still ongoing.”
