THE Seashells Nursery in Minehead had a welcome visit from the police as part of its safety week.

It invited the police to teach the children about road safety and show how the police can help them – and the youngsters also got the chance to explore the police car and van and re-enact an emergency.

While the officers were there they accepted an invitation to cut the ribbon to open Seashells’ new pirate ship treehouse, which the children are using for role play and childcentred learning.

The nursery is also visiting the town’s fire station to help the children understand the importance of fire safety.
