POLICE are investigating an arson attack on a house in Minehead only hours after the fire brigade dealt with a separate blaze in the garage of the property.

The two-storey detached house in Market House Lane was set alight at around 11pm on Sunday causing extensive damage.

Using breathing apparatus, two fire crews from Williton and two from Minehead managed to bring the blaze under control at 12.12am on Monday.

Police would like to speak to a white male, aged 30, who was seen wearing a chequered lumber jacket in Blenheim Road or The Parade area between 10.30pm and 11.15pm.

Earlier in the day, fire crews were called to the same house to tackle a fire in the garage.
