SIR — As a local self-funded community group, may we ask your readers to contact us if they have any surplus vegetables and fruit available this autumn.
We are working closely with local food banks, FareShare South West (http://www.fareshare">www.fareshare. org.uk) and others like-minded to try and help those families in our local communities, who are in real need.
Eating or heating is a stark choice for many and our members want to do all we can to help.
Everything will get to individual families with the help of many genuine volunteers, family support and social workers to name just a few. Nothing is wasted.
In addition, for 2014, Quantock Eco is launching an InQEDible Edible planting scheme in West Somerset.
We are actively seeking small unused plots of land in our villages and towns where our volunteers will plant vegetables, herbs and fruit crops for anyone to help themselves - see the success of the original idea at http://www.Incredible-Edible-Todmorden.co.uk">www.Incredible-Edible-Todmorden.co.uk.
Finally, we need volunteers to help, and training is available with the leadership and support of Incredible Edible Somerset and Somerset Community Food.
Thank you.
David Croxton,
Project Leader,
InQEDible Edible Project.
