IN a series of plant sales from her garden in Minehead, neighbourhood charity organiser Judith Heaphy raised £2000 that will help the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital.

She made the donation to the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE), which raises funds for the Beacon Centre.

Judith presented the cheque to Carole Summerfield and Roy Hole from SURE at her latest plant sale.

“We had hoped to raise £2,000 in the year to September, but managed it in nine months!” she said.

“It couldn’t have happened without the generous help of our cake-makers, and all my lovely neighbours and friends who helped before, during and after the event.

“We raised £170 on the day, and we are already starting on the next amount for SURE."

SURE supporters have now raised over £3 million to provide the Beacon centre with equipment and support not otherwise available within the NHS budget.
