LOCAL volunteering charity Engage is looking at the potential for a Men’s Shed in Minehead and is inviting people to a public meeting on Thursday (March 28).

A Men’s Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – but where (not only) men are drawn together to share skills and knowledge with like-minded people.

They have a mutual interest in using their hands for activities such as woodworking, metalworking, repairing and restoring, electronics, model buildings or even car building.

Sheds typically attract older men, but many have younger members and women too. Whatever the activity, the essence of a Shed is the connections and relationships between its members.

Katrina Midgley, Engage chief officer said: “We are really excited to be in a position to support this project.”

The meeting is at 6.30pm in St Michael the Archangel Church, Alcombe.
