PUBLIC notices cover a number of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks, and other works.
Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.
Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council for the West Somerset and Exmoor areas.
Applications affecting conservation areas
A pair of applications have been received that could impact conservation areas in West Somerset.
Application 3/21/25/047 requests partial removal of boundary wall (lane side) at Cherry Trees, 12 Glenmore Road, Minehead, while application 3/31/25/018 wishes to erect a detached annexe and garage at Pitts Cottage, Stogumber.

Proposal for calisthenics park in Porlock
Changes affecting Porlock Recreation Ground, Porlock, which would affect a conservation area and public right of way are being proposed.
The proposed works are for the installation of an outdoor calisthenics park, complying with any town and country planning development orders and planning regulations under application 6/27/25/009.

Porlock Recreation Ground is located on Parsons Street, Porlock, Minehead, TA24 8QJ.
Road closure in Minehead
Somerset Council have proposed an order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Sycamore Road, Minehead, north-west from the junction with Sainsbury Road, for a total distance of 13 metres.
This is to enable Openreach to lay new ducting.
The works are expected to commence on Monday, November 3, and last until Tuesday, November 4, between the hours of 9.30am and 3.30pm. There is no alternative route for this closure.
Overnight closure in Timberscombe
Somerset Council have made a proposal to close Dunster To Timberscombe Road, Timberscombe from the junction with Clouds Steep, for a total distance of 81 metres.
This is in order to enable will enable Wessex Water to carry out reinstatement works.
The works are expected to take place overnight, starting from 7pm on Tuesday, November 4, and conclude at 7am on Wednesday, November 5.
