THE winners have been announced of the Old Ship Aground’s ‘Be Proud of Minehead’ photographic competition.

The Minehead pub invited entries which showcased what people enjoy about the area and why they should be proud of living here.

There were three different categories – open, camera phone fun shots and under 16s, with cash prizes totalling £1,000.

The entries were displayed on a dedicated ‘Be Proud of Minehead’ Facebook page with people being asked to vote on their favourites each month, resulting in the three most popular in each category going through to final judging.

“We received some wonderful pictures of Minehead and surrounding areas that illustrate just how lucky we all are to live, work and play in such a beautiful area,” said Old Ship Aground landlord Julian Abraham.

The winning pictures are on view at the pub and all the entries can be seen on the Facebook page.

The winner of the £500 prize in the open section was David Monahan, with the second prize of £250 going to Jochen Langbein.

Joanne Davis picked up £125 as the camera phone winner, as did Jack Richardson as the under 16 winner.
