RESIDENTS at Wyndham House in Minehead have been invited to take part in a three-month project with Norwegian company Motitech – and it will give them some pedal power!

The Motiview project, supported by Sport England’s Active Ageing Fund, consists of an adapted exercise bike, combined with a video library of worldwide and familiar routes.

Thanks to the technology, residents can cycle around their old home towns, transport themselves to a popular holiday destination or explore somewhere completely new, all while getting exercise and improving their wellbeing.

Mayor of Minehead Norman Hercock joined the residents, staff and family members when the Motiview project was introduced to the home.

With the equipment set up, residents took no time in getting to grips with the bikes and sharing stories on the familiar routes from their past.

Wyndham House manager Sharon Watts said: “A few of our residents were a little nervous, but really enjoyed themselves and then acted as cheerleaders, motivating and singing along as the others had a go.”
