FORMER colleagues came from all over England when long-serving bank cashier Pat Farmer retired after a staggering 43 years behind the counter.

It was back in the 1950s when Mrs Farmer first began work as a cashier. She stayed loyal to Minehead for almost all of those 43 years, save for a couple of years when she transferred to Cheltenham.

But she soon returned to Minehead and on Monday her current colleagues at the HSBC Bank marked her retirement with a surprise party.

She was presented with a commemorative watch, flowers and a day out at a top local health farm.
