A train company serving stations in Yeovil and Crewkerne has announced that a panel has been set up for the benefit of passengers.

Eight regular South West Trains passengers have been selected for the Passengers' Panel, which aims to give passengers a greater say in how SWT services are run.

Members come from different locations across the area covered by SWT services.

A number of rail users' groups also have representatives on the panel, which meets six times a year to comment on all aspects of SWT operations - including timetables, fares, tickets and general conditions.

A SWT spokesperson said panel members have already commenced 'mystery shopping' on South West Trains services in order to identify areas for improvement.

The Panel is also in the process of liaising with community and special interest groups within the South West Trains area, with a view to collecting feedback on relevant issues.

Panel members will be replaced every two years.
