WILLITON “non-athletes” Simon Bruford and Kevin Porter have raised £1400 for Macmillan in memory of two friends who died of cancer.
They completed the Bristol half marathon on September 17 even though, as they say, running was out of their comfort zone.
They were running in memory of friends Peter Machin and Matthew Langdon.
Simon (left) and Kevin made a promise back in February that they would achieve their goal and started training in earnest.

“It was a fantastic event, and the support from friends and family was very welcome.
“The atmosphere was one we will never forget, and all the spectators were full of encouragement,” said Simon.
Kevin added: “We would both like to thank everyone who sponsored us leading up to the run. Between us we have raised almost £1400 for Macmillan, which is fantastic, people have been so generous!”
The pair have kept their Just Giving pages open “just in case anyone has forgotten to sponsor us!”.
