Police have increased patrols after a spate of incidents in which paint stripper was used to vandalise cars.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has also appealed to the public to come forward if they have any information about the incidents.

The latest reported attack happened late in the evening of May 22nd and involved five cars in or around Newton Road. A total of five cars were damaged as a result.

Previous attacks have all taken place in or around Southville, which is close to Newton Road.

Some cars have had as much as 60% of paint removed in attacks. Police have increased patrols but need people in the affected areas to be as vigilant as they possibly can.

A force spokesperson said: "There is a large amount of paint stripper being used in these attacks.

"The person carrying out the damage must be getting the paint stripper form somewhere. It is possible they could have links to the building or motor trade."

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers can remain anonymous.
