DRIVERS can expect overnight road closures over the next month as a stretch of the A39 near St Audries is being repaired and upgraded.

The work, which starts on Monday September 19, is to tackle a long-running issue with cracking and subsidence along 800 metres.

The works have been planned to minimise disruption as much as possible and will be split into three phases:

* Drainage works from 7pm on Monday to 7am on Tuesday (September 19-20).

* Prep works with temporary traffic lights in place from Wednesday (September 21) until October 14.

* Geogrid construction and resurfacing with 7pm to 7am closures from October 10 to 20.
