RAIN did not prevent this year's Minehead Flower Show from being a thundering success on Saturday. Show manager Derek Blay and his team set up the hall at West Somerset Community College where many members of the public turned up to support the show. The judges were very pleased with the overall standard and the garden produce judge, especially, commended the quality of onions, runner beans and soft fruit as "outstanding". Guests for the day were Mr and Mrs Julian Luttrell who presented the cups and trophies and Mayor of Minehead Cllr Nick Messarra who presented the Town Council Cup. The club wishes to thank the many businesses in the town that gave support by way of cash or prizes, the committee, Mr Blay and his team, the judges and exhibitors and the many members of the public who supported the show on a very wet afternoon.
