SIR – Maybe now, in the wake of the volcanic eruption in Iceland and the subsequent grounding of all aircraft, the government of this country will acknowledge that we can no longer rely on feeding our population with food obtained from abroad.
Now is the time to recognize the value to this country of our own farming community.
Every effort should be made to encourage our home grown products and to increase the level of farming.
Stop the decline in domestic agriculture and prepare, once again, to feed our own people from our own productive acres.
