PLAYTIME really is funtime for pupils at All Saints School, in Dulverton, thanks to a generous donation and some serious fundraising.

The children now have a range of exciting play equipment to enjoy during their lunch breaks after members of the All Saints School Association raised £5,500.

The association, which is the equivalent of a parent teachers' association, held events such as summer fetes and bingo nights to raise the money.

And the Sir John and Lady Heathcoat-Amory Charitable Trust boosted the total with a donation.

It has taken the association around four years to raise enough money to provide the play area, which features wooden climbing areas, tyres to swing on and ramps to run up and down on.

Headteacher Charles Pope said the equipment design meant that both older and younger children would benefit.

He said: "It is wonderful - the children love it. It has made such a difference to their play time.

"Because it's a new school site, which has only been here a year, the area the play equipment is on was just an empty piece of ground alongside the playground."

Association chairman Sandy Ferris thanked everyone who had supported the fundraising effort over the years.
