SIXTH former Adam D'Souza is officially top of the class after winning a world debating competition in Cyprus. Adam, who lives in Fitzhead and is a pupil at Taunton School, competed in the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship with fellow pupil Rowan Moore. The competition attracted students from all over the world, with teams from Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, Pakistan, South Africa and the USA as well as from the UK. All competitors had to compete in a number of different categories in addition to the main debate. While Rowan narrowly missed making it into the second round of the interpretative reading category, Adam went on to win the overall debating category - the most coveted of all the awards. Adam is pictured with Taunton School headmaster Dr John Newton.
