A NEGLECTED piece of land in a residential area of Minehead has been given a horticultural makeover.

Grounds staff from Minehead Town Council have spent the past few months clearing the area at the junction of Parkhouse Road and Lower Park Road.

More than 100 shrubs have been planted and a bench - funded by the council - installed in the sunniest location.

The work is a joint project between the council and Somerset County Council.

It is hoped future maintenance of the area will be taken on by members of Minehead Gardening Club.
