A NEW-look mobile library has been travelling around the country lanes of West Somerset, complete with wheelchair access and an on-board computer.

The £55,000 vehicle is based in Minehead and covers communities as far and wide as Brushford and Bossington, Simonsbath and Brompton Regis.

The library gives people in more rural areas weekly access to some 1,800 books, while those in wheelchairs can now have direct access thanks to a special lift.

The vehicle also features a computer which gives customers access to the library service catalogue, as well as a number of websites.

Driver Howard Cordran said he was pleased with the new vehicle and it had already attracted compliments from customers during his travels.
