SOMERSET’S first branch of MIB International, claimed to be the largest network for mothers and other women in business, has been launched in Minehead - and is looking for members.
Local mother Elke Koessling Winzer, who heads the new group, said it will bring “a brand new and innovative style of networking to the area” and added: “At the heart of MIB International are child-friendly networking events - a chance to meet other women in business, sharing ideas, growing personally and professionally - and where children are welcome.”
There are currently more than 400,000 people worldwide in the MIB International network which was founded by Leona Burton in 2020.
Elke Koessling Winzer, a single mother of two boys, has run her PR and events business in West Somerset since 2012 when she set up Exmoor4all and founded the Exmoor Food Fest which will celebrate its 11th year in 2026.
“Living in a rural area, with so many constraints from public transport, child care to actual opportunities, I know how important it is to have a sympathetic support network,” Elke explained. “MIB Minehead aims to bring local women together into a vibrant international network, where they find friends, support and collaboration in a relaxed and, most importantly, child friendly setting.
“We hope to make a difference in an area which has been at the bottom of the social mobility Index for far too long.
“Our first meeting last week has already created some great collaborations. The meetings are relaxed and everyone, whether they are just starting out or running a successful business already, is welcome. Mums are able to bring their children along.
“All women are invited to join the local Facebook group, MIB Int. Minehead and attend the monthly meetings.”
The next meeting is on October 30 at 10.30am at Toucan’s, Minehead. Booking is essential.
