WIVELISCOMBE is continuing its commemoration of World War One with the public launch of a new book today, December 9, that looks at the men and women of the town and many aspects of the war.

The book, ‘Wivey Boys: A Great War Register of Wiveliscombe Men and Women who Served between 1914 – 1918’, is by local historian Sue Farrington, who has been researching it for several years with assistant Glenda Anderson.

It follows on from a Heritage Lottery funded project last year with the installation of a memorial mosaic in the Jubilee Gardens, and continues the town’s commemoration of the war.

The book has brief biographies of over 400 people, including over 200 more whose stories have not been recorded previously.

It is also on sale at Wiveliscombe Community Office
