COWBRIDGE Sawmill and Forge, Timberscombe, will once again be open to the public as part of National Mills Weekend (May 12-13).

Thanks to the hard work of the many volunteers, the mill, which dates back to the 14th century, has been restored and has been developed into a working heritage sawmill.

In addition to the restoration of the 14ft water wheel and the vintage mill machinery, the site also contains vast collection of agricultural machinery and tools.

Visitors will have the opportunity to view the restoration that has taken place under the guidance of mill owner Owen Rush.

Blacksmiths will be working in the forge and there will be woodturning in the workshop. Free guided tours will be given from 11am to 4.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and refreshments will be available. Admission and parking is free but donations are much appreciated.

Piles Mill at Allerford and Dunster Water Mill will also be open for the weekend.
