SIR — I read with interest your report of a sheep killing, possibly by a puma (Free Press March 19).

Prior to taking over Tropiquaria just over two and a half years ago, I was a full-time college lecturer specialising in zoological matter and had spent some time studying the alien big cat phenomena, both in the UK and in oher countries.

As a result of these studies I was asked to write a number of short studies on the subject, including one on the phenomena in Somerset.

This is still in print (Big Cat Mysteries of Somerset, Bossiney Books), and highights multiple sightings of big cats in several areas of Somerset.

Although Tropiquaria now takes up much of my time, I am still very interested in the subject and I am very keen to examine evidence of the presence of such animals.

As such I am available to look at farm livestock that may have been attacked by such animals and to produce reports on these attacks for the owners, and advise on how to lessen the chances of future attacks.

Reports will be dealt with in total confidence where this is desired.

I may be contacted at Tropiquaria on 01984 640688.

Chris M Moiser,

Tropiquaria,
