THE Watchet Music Festival, which brings thousands of visitors to the town on the August Bank Holiday, has been cancelled by organisers Watchet Live.

The festival has now been postponed until August 27, 28 and 29 next year. All tickets booked will remain valid and emails will advise on how to apply for refunds.

In a statement, the organisers said that most of the acts booked for this August had agreed to appear in 2021. This year’s headliners were scheduled to include Sister Sledge and Shed Seven.

“This was an extremely difficult decision taken with a very heavy heart, and comes at a time of universal uncertainty. We are bitterly disappointed,” a spokesman said.

** Minehead Gardening Association has decided to cancel this year’s flower show, which was to have been held on Saturday, August 8, at the West Somerset College, due to the covid19 situation.

Show manager Derek Blay said: “We feel this is necessary as our main concern is to keep all competitors and visitors safe and well.

“We ask all the winners of 2019 to hang on to their cups and trophies until they can be collected at a later date.

“We look forward to seeing all competitors and visitors at our 2021 show.”
