A WOMAN who is tackling a gruelling 63 marathons in 63 days will be running through Minehead tomorrow (October 5).
Nicola Love, 50, began her world record-breaking attempt on August 27 and hopes to hit her target on October 28.
She is running from John O’Groats to Land’s End and back to her home town, Leicester, raising funds for research into new treatment that could potentially eradicate the faulty gene in babies diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease.
“A great friend of mine was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in the last decade and is starting to show the degenerative signs. I wanted to run for a cause close to my heart, and would like to hope that my efforts can help him and other sufferers in the UK.”
Huntington’s Disease is a hereditary disorder of the central nervous system and affects approximately 7000 people in the UK.
Nicola has previously run seven marathons in seven days and finds that running helps to overcome various difficulties. She wants to prove to others that it is a tool for positivity in all walks of life, regardless of background or disadvantages.
“I believe the secret to being able to smash the world record lies in my mindset and, as long as my mind lets me, I should be able to complete it with ease,” she said.
