The annual Christmas Tree Festival takes place from Friday to Sunday, December 2 - 4, in St Decuman’s Church, Watchet.

There will be a record number of trees this year with some 48 lit decorated trees depicting this year’s theme - ‘The Tastes of Christmas’.

A spokesperson said: It will be interesting to see how many turkeys, Brussel sprouts, pigs in blankets, Quality Street chocolates puddings etc will be portrayed on the trees which are being displayed by the Watchet churches, youth organisations, schools, museum, twinning, Phoenix, RBL, Elliots Touch etc from the town. In addition besides Danesfield School (three trees) there are further 6 trees from Williton Youth organisations, Church, Croft and Hospital.”

The church will be open on Friday and Saturday, 10am until 5pm and on Sunday from 11.45am until the Christingle Service at 4pm.

There will be stalls and refreshments on Friday with extra items on Saturday including bacon rolls & hot dogs (with thanks to the Watchet Rainbows team) from 10am and homemade soups from midday.

This annual event sees the largest gathering of Watchet/Williton organisations which has become a popular start to the Christmas season and this year promises to be no exception - the event has been held annually since its conception in 2008 (with one break due to Covid).
