WEST Somerset Morris has handed over three cheques of £250 each to local causes at a presentation evening.

The money was raised by collections when the dancers were out and about during the season.

Squire Joe Raucki said: "Each year we pass on the money we collect to various local charities. Thanks to the generosity of the various towns and villages where we dance, we are this year able to make three donations of £250."

Derek and Diane Albutt, from the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, and Matt Rose from Halsway Manor Library were present to receive the cheques.

A further donation had already been made to the Children’s Hospice South West.

Bagman Ray Hunt said: "Together with our donation to St Margaret’s Hospice last Christmas we are pleased to pass on a total of £900 to such worthy causes."

West Somerset Morris took on its new name in October when the West Somerset Morris Men and the ladies’ West Somerset Border Morris merged. More information can be found on the West Somerset Morris website.
