WILLITON Hospital League of Friends had cause to celebrate after receiving a cheque for £500 from a company involved in redesigning a town store.
Barbara Heywood, secretary of the league, was bowled over when Weatherhead Shop Designers invited her to receive a cheque at the official opening last Friday of the recently refurbished Co-Op.
“They told us they wanted to make a donation, as they always like to leave something behind other than the job they have done,” she said. “It was absolutely brilliant.”
She said the donation would go towards things on the community hospital’s ’wish list’, which the league works to provide.
“It goes towards all sorts of things, including the garden.
“It’s the gold-plating for the patients, over and above what the trust provides.”
A spokesman for Weatherhead said the company aimed to engage positively with the local community during its work and to add value, in this case through a contribution to the league of friends.
“It’s a charity which is important to the Co-Op store team and which Weatherhead are delighted to support,” the spokesman said.
