MORE details have emerged of a dramatic night-time rescue by a lifeboat crew in the Bristol Channel off Minehead on Tuesday evening.

Police have confirmed they attended Minehead beach at about 11 pm after they received a 'concern for welfare' call about a woman in the water.

Minehead Lifeboat was launched and Coastguards and ambulance personnel also attended.

The Avon and Somerset Police helicopter was deployed to locate the woman in the water and give directions to the emergency services crews.

A police spokeswoman said: "A woman was taken into the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital."

There was no information about the woman's condition.
