SIR — So health and safety strikes again!
I was amazed to read that it is planned to smooth over the cobbled pavements at Dunster.
I was born and brought up in Dunster. Now in my 70s I still make occasional visits and obviously take care when walking through the village.
Surely anyone visiting a medieval village would expect to walk on cobbles and would wear sensible shoes.

Finally, Paul Toogood's remark about bringing the village into the 21st century is ridiculous. There's no such thing as a modern medieval village.
