MEMBERS of the West Somerset Stroke Club have been left high and dry after thieves stole the group’s minibus.
The vehicle was kitted out with a tail-lift and had been completely refurbished internally using money gifted to the group by well-wisher Mary Ware.
Hilary May, co-founder of the club, said the police had received reports of the minibus being driven northwards on the M5.
“It only had a little petrol in it so it could not go far without refuelling,” she said.

“In the meantime, we are seeking help from another local agency to enable us to continue with the service that we give and we shall be eternally grateful if someone somewhere in the country sees it dumped, abandoned or being used by these unscrupulous people.”
The vehicle is particularly distinctive as it is emblazoned with the words “West Somerset Stroke Club – The Mary Ware Bus”.
It had been parked in Vennlands when it was stolen.
No additional details about the theft were available from Avon and Somerset Constabulary before the Free Press went to print yesterday (Thursday).
