KNOWN as Minehead’s “Plant Lady”, dedicated fund-raiser Judith Heaphy has recently raised over £5,000 in plant sales from the stall outside her home for local charities - SURE (Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment) and Homestart, who assist young families experiencing difficulties.

Last Saturday, at a coffee morning at Judith’s house, Paul Alway, chairman of SURE and Tony Jones, one of Homestart’s trustees, received their cheques. Judith said: “It’s been such a success due to all the work on the day from friends and neighbours, plus the generous donations by members of the local community of plants and cakes.”

The coffee morning itself raised a further £500 for the two charities.
