Chairman Graham Sizer said: “BID has a budget to enhance existing events and create more entertaining days in the town, but it was reluctantly decided to put the idea off for now.
“We wanted to make as immediate impact as we could, but things will have to wait a little longer.”
Congratulating Watchet on its successful wheelbarrow race last weekend, Mr Sizer said: “Minehead is on catch-up in some respects, but we’ll get there.”
He said the group will now concentrate on making this year’s Minehead Christmas event, which starts on November 30, something to remember.
