MINEHEAD shopkeepers have been supporting the visit of the Flying Scotsman and the Festival of Wheels in their own special way, by creating fun and imaginative window displays.
They have been taking part in a competition organised by the town’s Chamber of Commerce for the best window.
Anne Douglass, who has a vintage clothes shop, Robin, and has been organising the competition on the Chamber’s behalf, visited over 100 shops to spread the word.
“We’ve had a terrific response, there must be 50 displays – some huge, some small,” she said.

The window displays were timed to start this week to coincide with the arrival of the Flying Scotsman, and will last until its visit and the Festival of Wheels have finished.
There will be a cash prize for the shop with the winning display. Judging will be tomorrow (Thursday).
