SIR — The many residents who have long been waiting for Minehead to have a museum of its own will be delighted to know that we expect to open the planned museum at the Heritage Hub in the Beach Hotel at the end of this month.

Besides a collection recording the history of the town and its inhabitants, there will be a special exhibition entitled 'Minehead at War'.

This will cover both world wars and we hope your readers will lend or give us items we can display, photograph or photocopy.

Do your readers have photographs and memoirs of Minehead residents who enlisted in either war, their souvenirs or medals?

Are you a former Land Girl or munitions worker? Were you or your relatives in the Home Guard? Do you have photographs of Minehead in wartime? Do you still have your ration book, or one of the booklets issued by the Home Office?

Please let us have your memories, too. What was life like for those who went to war and those who experienced wartime here in Minehead?

If your readers would like to contribute in any way to this, the first exhibition in the new Minehead Museum, do please get in touch with the Minehead Museum Group c/o The Beach Hotel, The Avenue, Minehead TA24 5AP, [email protected]">[email protected] Thank you.
