NEARLY 60 people sat down to a free Christmas Day lunch by Millbridge Church, in Minehead.

It was the biggest attendance since the church held its first festive lunch nine years ago.

Around 12 volunteers gave up their Christmas Day to help and some came as far away as Bishops Lydeard to join the group.

Mary Neighbour, who organised the lunch, said:”It was a privilege to be able to cater for people in our community who may not have had a Christmas meal or company at this time.

“I would like to thank the great team of volunteers who helped to make this day so special for others. I would also like thank the local supermarkets and businesses who gave generously.”
