A ‘DANGER to life’ weather warning has been issued by the Met Office ahead of a spell of strong winds which are expected to sweep across the west coast of Britain.
Somerset has not been included in the official warning area but forecasters forecast a windy weekend for the county, with gales and showers forecast.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind from 8am until 10pm on Saturday (April 6) which will take in Devon, Cornwall, West Wales, the North West and West Scotland.
“A deep area of low pressure will bring a spell of very windy weather to western areas this weekend,” the Met Office says.
What to Expect
- There is a small chance of longer, or even cancelled journeys, as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
- There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close or impose restrictions
- There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
