THREE West Somerset councillors are organising a massive unofficial clean-up next Saturday (July 2) as protests grow over the state of Minehead Esplanade.

They have been galvanised into action as private individuals frustrated by the lack of official action over the build-up of sand as the holiday season reaches its height.

Cabinet member Karen Mills and Cllrs Andrew Hadley and Richard Lillis are appealing for volunteers - “100 would be great” - to meet on the seafront at 10am next Saturday and throw tons of sand back on to the beach.
