CARHAMPTON nurse Clare Farmer will be swapping her uniform for running gear when she tackles the London Marathon in memory of her 23-month-old nephew, who was killed in a farm accident in 2012.

Clare, 32, has already successfully completed two half marathons and will be running the prestigious London Marathon on April 13 in aid of Child Bereavement UK.

The charity helps grieving children who have lost parents or siblings and families who have lost their own child.

Clare's nephew Edward Criddle was playing in a puddle on his father's farm in Norfolk when he was accidentally run over and killed.

"I see a lot of children die in my job as an accident and emergency nurse, so it's something that is very close to my heart," said Clare.

"I also want to do this in memory of my nephew as he was just a month short of his second birthday when he died."

When she's not busy working 12 hour shifts as an A andE nurse, Clare is either out training or fundraising.

"I'm doing lots of training and am running all the time I'm not working," she said.

She said local businesses had been extremely supportive and friends have already pledged £270 towards her £2,500 fundraising target via her online webpage at http://www.justgiving.com/Clare-Farmer2">www.justgiving.com/Clare-Farmer2.
