POLICE are investigating the cause of a fire in which a Yeovil man died on the Saturday before Christmas.
The man has been named as Andrew Kimber, believed to have been in his 20s, who died after the blaze broke out at his home in Green Mead in the early hours of the morning.
The first floor flat was well alight when firemen arrived at the scene just after 5 am.
A spokesman for Somerset Fire Brigade said: "There were no smoke detectors in the rooms of the flat. One was fitted in the hallway but did not activate until the fire had taken hold."
Police are investigating the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
An inquest into Mr Kimber's death was opened and adjourned on Christmas Eve.
