EXMOOR theatre company Pleasure Dome is set to be the first to stage an open-air production at the Valley of the Rocks near Lynton.

It will provide a dramatic location for the play, Macbeth, chosen to mark the year of Shakespeare’s 400th birthday and to bring open-air entertainment to both the community and holiday makers alike.

And it will be the start of a seasonal programme of outdoor entertainment consisting of classical theatre, opera and modern productions situated in the dramatic surroundings of the Valley of the Rocks.

In order to fund the production, Pleasure Dome is launching a crowdfunding campaign and is calling upon the support of the local community.

Artistic director Helena Payne said: “This part of the world has always been my home and a place that has inspired me.

“I am so excited to bring a theatre production to the Valley of the Rocks, and hope that all of Exmoor get behind this new artistic adventure.”
