IT was love at first sight when Bon Bon, a filly from a horse and pony sanctuary, met Brian the goat – and they have been inseparable since.
Bon Bon, a two-year-old Welsh filly, found a new home in Kilve with carer Karen Hutchings, and it was assumed she would bond with the family’s other horse.
But instead Bon Bon, who came from the Mare and Foal Sanctuary in Devon after being found abandoned at two weeks old with her dam, has paired up with Brian the goat.
The charity regularly makes home visits to make sure horses and their carers are doing well and, on a recent visit to Bon Bon, Sanctuary worker Bex Sherrell found the pair behaving just like husband and wife – with Bon Bon wearing the trousers.
The filly has been homed by Karen in Kilve, to be a companion pony for the other horse, so that there is always another for company – but Bon Bon and Brian had other ideas, and now they are constant companions.
“From the start they just seemed to get on like a house on fire,” said Karen, who was given Brian as a present, and he is a much loved family pet.
“Now they follow each other everywhere."
